Lori Update

Linda Towne Young wrote on the Ola Newsletter Facebook Wall: Laurie hasn't had any surgeries. The brain bleed was on the outer, not inner, she has a gash in her head, 9 broken ribs, a ruptured vertebrae in her neck and a sprained shoulder. They are keeping an eye on her and so far, everything is going good.

Lori Link (Lanham) Injured

Lori Link (Lanham)was injured yesterday while breaking a horse. She was admitted to the St.Al's trauma unit with severe head and neck injuries, along with several broken ribs. As more news becomes available I will update as soon as possible. All are prayers are with her and her family.

Police need your help
In the early morning hours on May 24, 2012, two individuals forced their way into a home in Horseshoe Bend, and committed an armed robbery. See a video at

One suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5' 8", and in his late 20's to early 30's. The second suspect...
is described as a white female, approximately 5' 3", and in her mid to late 20's. Both suspects kept their faces covered.
Idaho State Police is seeking information regarding this crime, and the two suspects. If you have any information, contact Idaho State Police dispatch at 846-7500.

JOHN LOUDEN of Sweet our neighbor of many years has passed away. He was life-flighted to Boise and died on Thursday, May 10th. He was a good neighbor and will be sincerely missed. All our condolences go out to the family. No word on the services at this time but will post as soon as I hear.

William G. “Bill” Perkins of Ola, age 72 03/20/1940 - 05/08/2012.
Bill Perkins very best friend and loving husband to Barb, Dad to John (Sheri), Lee (Shannon) Tom (Tamara), Billi (Dennis), Grandpa to Audri, Nikki, Kasi, Justin, Shane, Seth, Tate, Tucker, Tommy and Great Grandpa to Kyler left to go to a better place on May 8, 2012. Bill was born March 20, 1940 at the Triangle in Montour, ID. He was raised in Ola, attending elementary school there and his high school years were spent in Emmett. After graduation in 1958 he worked for Carlock Logging & Sawmill in Ola. In 1961 he joined the Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1965. He then worked for Hoff Lumber in Horseshoe Bend and for Boise Cascade after they purchased the mill from Hoff Lumber. He was employed there until the closure of the molding plant in 1986. After leaving Boise Cascade, he followed his dream of farming and ranching. On November 24, 1971, he and Barbara Leisy were married and spent 40 wonderful years together. In addition to farming and ranching, they owned and operated several restaurants consisting of The Riverside in Horseshoe Bend, Billy Barbs in Emmett and the Triangle in Montour.
Bill is survived by his wife, kids, and grandkids as well as his Mom, Annabell Perkins, sisters Jan (Kim) Reed, Sue (Jim) Brockway, brother Ted Perkins, sister-in-law Nadean Perkins, and aunts, nieces and nephews, cousins and many many friends. He was preceded in death by his Mother June Valentine, Dad Lawrence Perkins and his brother Bob Perkins.
Services will be held at the Ola Community Hall with burial to follow at the Ola Cemetery on May 14 at 11:00 In lieu of flowers, please make your donations to the Ola Community Hall. A viewing will be held at Potter Funeral Chapel on May 13 at 3:00 until 7:00 A great person has left us and he will be deeply missed. Good bye Bill, until we all meet again.

Ola Rough Striders

The Ola Rough Striders/Relay For Life will be having their first fundraising event of the year on Saturday, March 10th. This will be a Sock Hop at the Ola Community Hall. In preparation for the dance, free dancing lessons will be given at the Ola Inn, Wednesdays February 22 and 29th, and March 7th, if needed. These lessons will be given by Roger Beal, with Tia and Mark assisting.

Our first Relay For Life meeting will be February 25th, 10:00AM, at the Ola Inn. More details regarding the Sock Hop will be posted after the meeting.
